'Idol'-ized judges leave show

On Saturday at 10:15 pm, the much awaited California Idol finals will be held at Exhibit Hall C in the Convention Center. Previously, at Camp Roberts, we watched many delegates compete for a chance to perform in the finals. The judges were able to narrow it down to the best of the best.

Much like Youth and Government's judges, the judges of American Idol are in the midst of choosing the best of their bunch. However, unlike our panel, the panel of American Idol judges has dramatically changed recently. Last year, the show introduced fourth judge Kara DioGuardi, the first of many upcoming changes. Soon after, Paula Abdul announced that she would not be returning for the ninth season of the hit Fox show, and Ellen DeGeneres was announced as her replacement. The ratings for the premieres of the eighth and ninth seasons were comparable, averaging about thirty million viewers. However, as the season isn't over, these statistics are not enough to prove if DeGeneres is a worthy substitute for Abdul.

In January of this year, Simon Cowell announced his departure from the show after this season. Critics are saying that no one will be able to replace Cowell and his unique personality. No one has been assigned to his role as of yet. The three original judges have become famous for their distinctive personalities, and will tampering with the panel unsettle the balance?
