Senate Bills

Today February 12, 2010 the Senate was discussing three different Bills SB269, SB265, and SB277.
The first Bill was SB269 which mandates donation of tissues and organs.
An act to amend Section 7150.15 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to anatomical gifts.
Some argued that it went against religious beliefs and that their choices weren't being valued. Also that they would have to pay a fee in order to not be an organ donor, no matter what your choice. Since some feel that they would not be able to pay for this if they decided not to go with the organ donation.

The second Bill is SB265 which changes the options a patient has regarding the disposition of any human embryos remaining following fertility of treatment.
An act to amend Section 125315 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to medical research.

The third Bill that was being discussed in the Senate today is SB277 which mandates all crosswalks be equipped with flashing lights.
An act to add Section 894.9 to the Streets and Highways Code, relating to crosswalks.
